Dr. Narges Hadjesfandiari is a research associate in Dr. Dana Devine’s lab at the Centre for Innovation of Canadian Blood Services and holds an adjunct professor position with the Department of Pathology, UBC. Before moving to Canada, Narges received a Pharm. D. from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Iran and worked for three years as a community pharmacist and also in a Provincial Healthcare Network, involved in applying the guidelines on “Eradication/control of infectious diseases with focus on tuberculosis, malaria and cholera”, “National immunization”, “Substance abuse”, and “Mother and infant health”. She then received her PhD from the UBC Department of Chemistry in 2017, where she worked on the development of biocompatible and antimicrobial polymer coating for platelet storage bags. Her current research interests at Canadian Blood Services are the factors affecting red blood cells’ quality for transfusion as well as the interaction of blood components and biomaterials.
